How commissioning works

The things clients ask most often, answered plainly. Anything else, just ask us.

Commissioning

How does a commission start?: Send a request with a design of ours you like, or your own inspiration images. Our team reviews it personally and replies with a written quotation covering price, deposit and production timeline. Nothing is charged until you accept.
Do I need an account?: No. Everything works with your name and phone number, including tracking your order. If you have ordered before we will recognise your number and bring up your saved measurements.
Can you recreate a dress I have seen online?: Often, yes, and we will tell you honestly when we cannot, or when we can make something better suited to your fabric and budget. We do not copy another house's work line for line.

How long does a piece take?: Two weeks at the most. Simpler pieces leave the atelier in about a week, and bridal — the most involved work we do — still comes in within two. Tell us your date when you enquire and we will be straight with you about whether it is possible.
How many fittings are there?: Usually two or three: measurements, a mid-production fitting, and a final fitting before collection. Bridal commissions may need more.
What if I am not in Kigali?: Consultations can be held online, and we can work from measurements taken by a tailor near you. Fittings are harder at a distance, so we build extra adjustment room into the pattern.

How much is the deposit?: It is set per commission and stated on your quotation, typically around half. Production begins once the deposit is confirmed.
How can I pay?: MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, bank transfer or at the boutique. Card payments are being added. You can report a payment from your order tracking page and we confirm it once it arrives.
When is the balance due?: Before or at collection. Your tracking page always shows exactly what is outstanding.

Do you do alterations?: Yes. Adjustments to pieces we made are straightforward and often free within the first weeks after collection. Book an alterations appointment and bring the garment.
How should I care for the garment?: Every piece leaves with care instructions for its fabric. As a rule, silk and beaded pieces should be professionally cleaned rather than washed.
